There are plenty of uses to put your custom USB flash drives to. They are a practical accessory and come in vital on many occasions. Just what will you and your customers use yours for? Here are some uses.

1) Backing up your computer. Whether you are about to install some new software, play about with the hardware, have heard a strange noise from the hard drive or just want to make sure that valuable files are backed up, a flash drive is a great way to save those files quickly and easily.

2) Fixing your computer. Got a serious virus infection and can’t connect the laptop to the internet? Grab a flash drive, go to someone else’s computer (but make sure you aren’t passing them the virus via the flash drive…) and install virus detection software onto the USB flash drive. Then plug the USB flash drive into your broken computer and run the up to date virus program to, hopefully, clean up your machine. Problem solved!

3) Give your computer a new operating system. Is your computer behaving as though it is on its last legs, refusing to boot Windows and in need of some serious attention? Fed up with Windows and want to try something different? There are a multitude of operating systems, based around Linux, that can fit onto a USB flash drive and boot from it, allowing you to run the computer under that operating system.

4) Running your favourite software. There are versions of many popular software titles that will run directly from USB drives, without having to be installed onto the laptop running them. You need never be caught short in wanting to open a spreadsheet or a database file ever again.

5) Transporting files. Photos, music, documents, assignments, embarrassing video clips etc etc etc. Whatever files you might want to carry around and move between machines, there should be a USB flash drive to fit your files. A USB flash drive makes the process far easier than having to write to a CD or DVD and then carry that around attached to a key ring in your pocket all day.

This is just a quick overview of five of the many popular uses of promotional flash drives. There are loads more uses that you might want to put them to in every day situations. They are a versatile and useful tool and if you have a batch made up with your logo and contact details on and then pass them around to customers and contacts, it should be a great part of your businesse’s advertising activities. Don’t delay – you should have a look at the wide variety of flash drives available today and see which one suits your business the best.

In a warehouse, collisions are more than costly, they can even be deadly.

But just how dangerous are they? Lift truck accidents currently account for only about 1% of industrial accidents, but they are responsible for a amazing 10% of the physical injuries. ForkLift trucks cause nearly 10,000 injuries a year. Typically, lift truck incidents cost American companies over $135 million a year.

1998 OSHA training standards attempt to rectify the disproportionate number of injuries and damage lift trucks cause with training. Safety authorities agree that better operator training will help, but there are other ways to reduce the potential for injuries, death, and damage.

Forklifts and foot traffic shouldn’t mix if they don’t have to, and with the correct careful warehouse layout, equipment and processes, lighting, and environmental factors, you can significantly lower the chances for a lift truck and a person to cross paths, or for a lift truck to run into a building column, a rack upright, equipment, or stored inventory.

Visibility & Noise: simple, but often overlooked

Use of Safety Mirrors in blind spots.

Warehouses that are too dark can cause a greatly increased accident rate. By addition of adequate lighting, this simple improvement can reduce the chances that an operator won’t see people or objects in his traffic aisles. It seems simple, but the fact remains that a well lit, tidy warehouse environment within the acceptable level for general operations will reduce accidents. Consider using items like Safety & Visibility Mirrors to improve floor visibility. They’re inexpensive and can be mounted on ceilings, rack uprights, and other equipment to increase the chance that operators will see what’s in their path or around the other side of that row of Pallet Racks.

Industrial Striping When forklifts enter and leave controlled areas, consider using Vinyl Strip Doors at door points to control the environment and keep the floor dry while allowing easy access and good visibility. The truck driver can see activities on the other side of the door, and people working on the other side can see the forklift coming.

A noisy workplace increases danger, since workers have less of a chance of hearing the warning noise or a forklift’s engine. Certainly, there are many operations that must take place in louder environments, but machinery can be boxed in muffles to be quieter, and processes to be sure people know a forklift is in operation can be created. Certain Conveyors and systems, operate much quieter than typical systems, check out the noise levels before installing new systems.

Create Traffic routes and Traffic Aisles that separate people and industrial traffic.

There should be a physical barrier wherever possible

One of the easiest ways to prevent forklift collisions is by seperating areas where forklifts are supposed to be and where pedestrians are not allowed.

You can physically segment these aisles with equipment such as metal Guard Rails. Tape lines can also work, but they aren’t a physical barrier, keeping the lift truck on its side and the pedestrians on their side. It is tough to overlook bright-yellow, painted steel barriers. It’s easy to overlook tape on the floor, one person, be he a forklift driver or a pedestrian, can easily miss those lines, or ignore them through inattention. Although it isn’t always possible to erect solid barriers, when you can, it’s alot more effective.

There will always be some conflicts in the supply chain, without regards to the industry. That, I believe, will continue to be true. More times than I can remember, I have presented my keynote presentation titled, The New Era of Manufacturer/Distributor Cooperation at either manufacturing or distribution association meetings.

In doing my research for these presentations, the supply chain partners usually claim that they communicate well with each other. Unfortunately, that rarely proves to be the case. Through collaborative relationships, supply chain partners can improve.

To build efficient and productive relationship with any supply chain partner, important thing that will definitely help to improve the level of communication is an ability to understand a value that your supply chain partner has to receive from that relationship. As an example, your procurement department might believe that your supply partner should cut their price so low that they no longer make a profit. And that is just ridiculous.

Your partner will see you as a great resources and a partner of trust and value if you make an effort to understand what kind of value your partner needs and help him to receive that value, which will improve the communication. Don’t give away the bank here, but to deliver the value your supply parnet needs, you should put your energies into the services and activities and other similar tasks.

Improvements of the Supply Chain

Just-in-time inventory purchasing and supplying as exemplified by the famous relationship between Wal-Mart and Procter & Gamble has continued to prove successful. Another example are Dell Computers and Home Depot that have built a strong strategic alliance with the justi-in-time inventory that is so much cost saving. You could also apply this in your business. You can develop closer relationships with your supply chain partners.

To share the same strategy as your partner is a must in the business. It is neccesary to respond to conflicts an complaints promptly. This is the bet way to earn loyalty and build trust in the strategy which will bring great results.
