As a business owner, you can operated your company as a sole proprietorship, or it can be setup as a formal structure, for example an LLC. Form LLC as the structure for business is a great decision for the average entrepreneur. There are quite a few benefits to managing your operation as an LLC.

Following are 5 reasons to consider creating an LLC:

1. Protection of personal assets – If you own a business, you may be a large target for a lawsuit. You need to shield your personal assets from those of your company, so your personal assets are safe if your business is sued. Protection is usually offered by starting a LLC that is properly setup.

2. Project a professional image – Nothing says trustworthy company like an actual business structure. Anybody can start a business, but it is the people that take the extra step of setting up a business structure are truly serious about the success of their company, and people see this.

3. Gain trust – If your business is an LLC, you are making it very simple to locate suppliers in which to do business with you, and particularly easy to get a bank to lend you money. Managing your business as a profession, and not a side venture, is a great way to gain trust with those companies that you need to work with.

4. Lower risk of audit – Sole proprietors are more at risk to facing an IRS audit than LLCs. This most likely has something to do with the probability that a person might be using the business as an excuse to get some benefits on their taxes, though they would get more if they actually had an LLC and the IRS is onto these people. However, if a person goes to the trouble of form a LLC, it is likely they are in business for genuine purposes.

5. Adaptability – When operating as an LLC, you have greater choices in how to go about operating your operation. Adding more owners is an easy process, which you cannot do as a sole proprietor. An LLC is a very adaptable structure for business which allows you a variety of options on how your business should be run.

As an entrepreneur, you owe it to your business to have as best structured of a business as possible. Using an LLC as your business structure has several strong points, even more than those appearing above. Take your business seriously and consider forming an LLC.
